PT-311 Apologetics (3) A defense of historical Christianity as stated in the Scriptures. Christianity is defended against various “isms” that have been its enemies, and these false views are refuted from the Bible. Among those systems studied are Evolution, Liberalism, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, and Humanism.

PT-140 Congregational Song Leading (1) Instruction on fundamentals of music, basic rhythm, and direction techniques. Includes proper choice of hymns, gospel songs, and choruses used in the Sunday School, Sunday services, and other meetings of the church.

PT-301 Homiletics I (2) Instruction pertaining to the preparation and delivery of sermons. Sermonic structure and outlining are studied. Emphasis is placed upon the development of the preacher’s perspective of preaching. Students prepare sermons and deliver them in class under the supervision of the instructor.

PT-400 Youth and Music Ministries (2) Ministry of Music (1st 7 weeks). The place and importance of music in Christian worship. Scriptural principles for church music. The role of the pastor, the song leader, the choir director, and/or the minister of music in the music program; congregational singing; special music; the choir; problems in the development of a quality music program. Emphasis is placed on building a church music program on scriptural principles. The Youth Ministry (2nd 7 weeks). Focuses on the critical importance of the youth worker’s character and personal walk with God as the keys to successful youth ministry. Addresses a philosophy of youth work; the characteristics and qualifications of a good youth pastor; the power of the youth pastor’s example; the youth pastor/pastor relationship; the youth pastor/parent relationship; the youth pastor/teen relationship; counseling youth; promotion and direction of the youth ministry; programs and activities.
